Fires Continue to Burn Near Bolivia-Brazil Border

Brazil (HDW) September 19, 2004 - A thick veil of smoke covered much of South America on September 14, 2004, as intense fires continued to burn in western Brazil, Paraguay, and Bolivia. Peppin Fires in New Mexico Briefly Put into Check

New Mexico (HDW) June 1, 2004 - The Peppin Fire in the El Capitan Mountains of New Mexico was briefly checked late in the last week of May 2004 by moderate temperatures, cloudiness, and a little rain. But in the first days of June, more dangerous, windy conditions returned, and the fire once again flared up.
