Asian Fires Choke and Pollute Singapore and Kuala Lumpur Asia (HDW) May 19, 2004 - On May 19, 2004, several fires burned on the island of Sumatra. The fires are producing a thick cloud of smoke, which has been drifting northeast toward Malaysia and producing elevated air pollution levels in Singapore (on the southern tip of Malaysia) since mid-May. |
